Weekend Up North

Updated: Mar 18, 2019

Last weekend was retreat weekend for all of the DIS Living & Learning Communities. My Outdoor LLC spent the weekend at a traditional Danish "summer house" (the American equivalent of a cabin) in a little town called Sjællands Odde, about an hour and a half away from Copenhagen. The retreat was organized by our lovely Coordinator, Benjamin, whose in-laws were nice enough to let us use their summer house.

On the drive up, we stopped at a fish market in the cutest little town and got a beautiful view of the ocean.

It was quite chilly but that didn't stop us from exploring. We spent the afternoon cooking, creating a sweat lodge, building a fire and setting up a "shelter" because the house wasn't big enough for us to all sleep inside.

After we settled in, Benjamin told us it was time for winter bathing (aka jumping in the freezing cold ocean water!!). We put on our swimsuits, did some warm up exercises and walked to the ocean. It really wasn't too bad and it felt ~exhilarating~ to jump into the water. Plus, the sweat lodge was a fun way to heat up afterward.

I brought my video camera along and made a mini vlog of the weekend so you can get a better idea of what it was like! Enjoy ;)

Cheers to a wonderful weekend up north!
